Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
As many as 12 people were injured after a clash broke out between police and Bajrang Dal activists in Bihar's Nalanda district when police personnel resorted to lathi-charge to pacify the crowd.
The incident took place during the Aarti of Lord Hanuman near Amber Chowk. It was alleged that Bajrang Dal activists were beaten by police officials with a lathi when a scuffle broke out during the aarti.
Retaliating against the lathicharge by the police, Bajrang Dal activists went on a rampage, raising a huge ruckus and asking shopkeepers to close their shops. As the incident created panic in the area, heavy police force was deployed in the area to maintain law and order situation as there was mayhem by Bajrang Dal activists.
Senior police officials along with Sadar DSP Dr Shibli Nomani reached the spot and tried to pacify the crowd. At the same time, many Bajrang Dal workers who reached near Amber Chowk raised slogans against the administration. Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Abhishek Palasia said action would be taken against the suspects after investigation. Bajrang Dal activist Vicky said that every Tuesday there is a Bajrang Bali aarti, but only this time the police lathi charged the mob.
